Podcast EpisodesNaPodPoMo 2022
National Podcasting Posting Month is an annual podcasting challenge to post 30 podcasts in 30 days. It was created and run by Jennifer Navarette known as @epodcaster as annual event.
Jennifer had been encouraging me to start a podcast so I took the challenge. I prefer narrating content to doing interviews. Having found several of Leo Tolstoy’s short works I undertook to do the challenge narrating them.
If you’d like to start at the beginning, visit the index I created for the series.
A Just Judge Part 2 – Episode 21
This was indeed a wise judge finding ways to definitively determine who was speaking truth and who wasn’t. He also displayed a humility, something often refreshing to see among the rich and the powerful.
He was pleased to have the approval of the King he served. Accepting a reward for effectively doing his job smacked of corruption. Not a good look for a judge in any age.
Thank you for listening to Episode 21. The next episode will feature the story The Two Brothers
A Just Judge Part 1 – Episode 20
Seems this story could go in just about any direction at this point. Let’s find out how the judge sees the cases when this story concludes.
Thank you for listening to Episode 20. The next episode will feature the conclusion of the story A Just Judge
The Snake – Episode 19
The age old theme of a parent trying to direct their child’s life. The mother wanted her daughter and grandchildren back where she could enjoy them, even if her daughter wasn’t happy. The daughter made the choice to go her own way.
A wise parent learns to find happiness in the happiness of their offspring even when it’s not what they would have wanted for them.
Thank you for listening to Episode 19. The next episode will feature the story A Just Judge which will be told in two parts
How the Peasant Divided the Geese – Episode 18
Sharing can come in different forms. The peasant here shared in proportion to the need of the recipient. The landlord had the wisdom to recognize what he was doing and rewarded him rather than adding to the coffers of the rich.
Thank you for listening to Episode 18. The next episode will feature the story The Snake
The Merchant and the Purse – Episode 17
We have a rich merchant wanting to take advantage of a poor person who is being honest. The workman could have simply kept the money he found.
Thank you for listening to Episode 17. The next episode will feature the story How the Peasant Divided the Geese
The Two Merchants — Episode 16
The poor merchant was wise not to argue the point with the rich merchant. People who tell outrageous lies will just build on the lie if argued with. The poor merchant found and used the rich merchant’s vulnerability to get the point across.
Thank you for listening to Episode 16. The next episode will feature the story The Merchant and the Purse
Episode 15 – The Hedgehog and the Hare
Never underestimate the ability of an opponent. The hare would have won the bet easily if he’d not underestimated the thinking ability of his opponent.
Thank you for listening to Episode 15. The next episode will feature the story The Two Merchants
Birds In A Net – Episode 14
This story reminds me of trying to herd cats.
For anything to work with a group, every member of the group needs to be pulling in the same direction to move forward.
Doesn’t mean every member has to think the same. Forward is a good common ground to have.
Thank you for listening to Episode 14. The next episode will feature the story The Hedgehog and the Hare
The Golden-Haired Princess – Episode 13
I was curious what led a Russian to write a creation story for the Japanese silkworm and why the divine tones to the story.
Turns out, in Japan, silkworms are considered to be ‘Heavenly Insects”. This belief is popular in the mythology of Northeastern Japan. The roots of their divine mythology traces back to Siberian culture.
Our cultures do tend to overlap even in the oldest of times.
The Gnat and the Lion – Episode 12
Never judge the strength of an opponent by appearances. Even the smallest of creatures has defenses to use.
