NaPodPoMo 2022

National Podcasting Posting Month is an annual podcasting challenge to post 30 podcasts in 30 days. It was created and run by Jennifer Navarette known as @epodcaster as annual event.

Jennifer had been encouraging me to start a podcast so I took the challenge. I prefer narrating content to doing interviews. Having found several of Leo Tolstoy’s short works I undertook to do the challenge narrating them.

If you’d like to start at the beginning, visit the index I created for the series.

The Three Questions Part 3 – Episode 29

The king may have started out seeking knowledge of the perfect actions to take in the future, he ended up learning that what is happening and who you’re dealing with in the here and now is what truly matters. What we do with now determines actions in the future.

We often spend so much energy trying to change the future, we forget to put energy on doing well now.

We’re almost finished NaPodPoMo for 2022. In Episode 30 I’ll talk about the experience of doing this challenge and where I think I will go from here.

The Jackals and the Elephant – Episode 26

This little story reminds me of the age old adage… if something is too good to be true, it’s not. The elephant thought he was headed to an easy life with the jackal’s promises. Instead he was led to his own death.

Thank you for listening to Episode 26. The next episode will feature the story The Three Questions which will be told in three parts.

How the Imp Made Amends for the Crust of Bread Part 2 – Episode 25

Sadly the peasant has succumbed to the negative energies that excess can often bring. We start to loose sight of our past humility and start to engage with arrogance.

While Tolstoy writes his story about the dangers of drinking alcohol, the drink is the trigger for lowering inhibitions and releasing the negative energies we all have. They are ours to control just as it’s our choice to drink alcohol or refrain.

How the Imp Made Amends for the Crust of Bread Part 1 – Episode 24

The peasant was able to live with humility when he had little. His lack allowed him to have compassion for whoever stole his crust of bread. He thought the person must have been in greater need to have taken his meager meal.

Will his humility withstand him gaining an excess in his life? We’ll find out in part 2.

The Two Brothers Part 2 – Episode 23

Turns out both brothers were right from their own perspective. I had to chuckle at their dueling proverbs to prove their point. Proverbs and quotes can be found to fit just about any argument.

The elder brother is more cautious, wants to know what is behind the next door before opening it. The younger brother is more willing to dive into an adventure and take his chances.

Both brothers followed their hearts and got what they needed because they chose themselves first.

These two brothers sure are pretty opposite on how they view the message the younger brother found. Which one will prove to be right? Or will they both be right from their own perspective and needs?

Siblings may be raised together but every person has their own unique personality.

Thank you for listening to Episode 22. The next episode will feature the conclusion of The Two Brothers.
